FedConnect shows SSA has issued a VHR solicitation for a new Region 1 single VHR provider. I suspect the current contractor has had too many issues for SSA to trust them going forward. Will STRATCOMM place a bid? Any others? Asking for a friend...
Maybe in 10 years, all ALJs will be in a single high-rise somewhere around the Falls Church area, each with a laptop and docking station, a VTC camera/screen, contractor VHRs/VEs/MEs/interpreters on speed dial, and all staff crammed into multiple lower floors of the high-rise?? With all the techno increases, perhaps the agency will increase expectation for ALJ production to 600+/year by then? Is this more World Class Service??

The Rumor Control Team is learning that many currently out-of-work VHRs are resigning association with Single VHR contractors, not only to seek immediate employment elsewhere due to financial constraints, but also because they believe they could be at great risk going back to VHR work due to the need to sit near and breathe the same air for prolonged periods with people who are already impaired or "sick." Will the Single VHR contractors have enough time and applicants to fill needed positions whenever "normal" hearing processes eventually resume? Since the health risk to VHRs at such future time will be substantially greater, will the Single VHR contractors need to significantly increase the rate(s) paid to be able to fill the demands of its contract? It is doubtful that the Single VHR contractors would air their laundry in any public manner, eh?
